How consumption and trip cost are calculated
The amount of fuel equals the distance multiplied by the consumption per 100 km and divided by 100. The trip cost is the amount of fuel multiplied by the price per litre.
Fuel (L) = Distance (km) × Consumption (L/100 km) ÷ 100
Cost = Fuel (L) × Price per litre
To find your real consumption, fill the tank to full, reset the trip meter, drive as usual and fill up to full again. Consumption equals the litres added divided by the kilometres driven, multiplied by 100.
Consumption (L/100 km) = Fuel filled (L) ÷ Distance driven (km) × 100
Real consumption depends on speed, driving style, load, weather, tyre pressure and air conditioning, so for a long trip it is better to use your own measurements rather than the manufacturer’s figure.
The fuel price in the form is only an example: enter the current price from the station. The result is approximate.
Fuel consumption examples
Example 1 — one-way trip. Distance 120 km, consumption 7.5 L per 100 km, price 60 UAH per litre. You need 9 L of fuel and the trip costs 540 UAH, or 4.50 UAH per kilometre.
Example 2 — round trip for three people. The same data, but both ways: 240 km, 18 L, 1,080 UAH. That is 360 UAH per person.
Example 3 — your own consumption. After 450 km you added 31.5 L. Consumption = 31.5 ÷ 450 × 100 = 7 L per 100 km.
FAQ about fuel consumption
How do I calculate fuel consumption per 100 km?
Divide the litres you filled by the distance driven and multiply by 100. For accuracy, fill up to a full tank in the same way each time.
Why is consumption different in the city and on the highway?
In the city the engine accelerates and idles more often, while on the highway the speed is steadier. For a route with both, use an average from your own measurements.
How do I split the trip cost between passengers?
Enter the number of people sharing the cost in the “Number of people” field and the calculator shows the amount per person.
Does the calculator include tolls and parking?
No, it only calculates fuel. Add tolls, parking and vehicle maintenance separately.
