How the unit converter works
The converter translates a value from one unit into another through an intermediate base unit: meters for length, kilograms for weight, bytes for digital data. The entered value is multiplied by the conversion factor to the base unit, then by the target unit's factor.
Result = Value × Factor(from) ÷ Factor(to)
Three categories are supported: length (meters, kilometers, inches, feet, miles, etc.), weight (kilograms, grams, pounds, ounces), and digital data volume (bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, terabytes).

Why isn't 1 gigabyte exactly 1000 megabytes?
Computing has historically used two standards: decimal (1 GB = 1000 MB) and binary (1 GiB = 1024 MiB). This converter uses a factor of 1024, which most operating systems use when displaying file sizes.
Can I convert between different categories, like kilograms to meters?
No, conversion is only possible within a single category (length, weight, or data), since these are physically different quantities.
How accurate is the conversion result?
The calculation is precise to several decimal places, which is more than enough for everyday, educational, and engineering purposes.
